Chair professor Rudolf Podgornik in the Foreign-expert 1000-talents program of Chinese government at the School of physical sciences, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), Zhongguancun Campus, Beijing, invites outstanding young researchers in physical sciences to apply for up to 3 postdoc positions in 2018. We are interested in candidates working in the following areas, but not only restricted to:
1. Macromolecular interactions (electrostatics, van der Waals, solvent structure, fundamental theory as well as simulations),
2. Physics of DNA (theory of condensation in confined spaces, statistical physics of hairpins and loops)
3. Physical virology (packing of RNA/DNA genomes, theory of recognition disorder and packaging signals)
Designed to attract the talented researchers in the world for working with the foreign professors in the 1000-talents program of Chinese government, each Fellowship provides a significant opportunity to conduct high-level research the UCAS. Successful applicants are expected to conduct research full-time in areas mentioned above or ongoing projects. An annual salary is about 200K RMB (about 31,000 USD ). Besides, the UCAS will cover medical insurance and offer additional lodging support of about 48K RMB (about 7,600 USD). There are no teaching duties.
The position is normally for three years. Fellows can seek another two-year contract extension or promotion to a tenure-track faculty position depending on academic performance. Basic requirements for the applicants (1) Ph.D degree in Physics or Physical Chemistry, (2) Good programming in MATHEMATICA and MATLAB.
